Heartland Athletic Services, Inc. would like to enhance the sound traditions of the sport of running by encouraging sportsmanship and offering participation in track & field and cross country competitions for youth in the Kansas City metro areas and the Midwest. Youth events in track & field and cross country take place in 2-year age divisions, from 10 & under through 17-18. We also help promote youth athletes to compete in NIKE Youth XC and Track National meets.

The Heartland Youth Track Club (HYTC) is starting its 5th outdoor season and now accepting enrollment forms for the upcoming 2013 outdoor track & field season for youth ages 6-18 athletes.
The HYTC participates in 6-10 local, district, regional and national outdoor meets each year and will kick off the 2013 outdoor season at the "5th Annual Heartland SMT Meet" on June 1, 2012. The SMT (Saturday Morning Track) meet series (formally TNT meet series) will be announced on April 1, 2013
The HYTC season starts on May 13 and the enrollment forms must be submitted by May 6, 2013. The online HYTC enrollment form contains all the 2013 HYTC outdoor club information and details. The following entrollment form accepts credit cards to enroll athletes for the 2013 HYTC summer season.

The team set a MO state indoor meet record and a personal best with a winning time of 8:19.14. Kristen Birmingham and Steve Clopine lead the Heartland Youth Track Club to victories in the Triathlon (Kristen) and the Decathlon (Steven) at the AAU area 16 National Qualifier Championships. Kristen and Steven both set personal records in their respective events. Kristen scored 735 points in the Triathlon and Steven scored 5401 points in the decathlon. Kristen won 4 gold medals; she won the Triathlon, 100m, 200m, and 400m.
They will compete in the AAU Jr. Olympic Games National Championships on July 27 - Aug 4 in Houston, TX

After only running for 2 years of cross country (2011 Nike Cross Midwest Regional Champion Open Boys Division in Terre Haute, IN.) and track & field with Park Hill High School and Heartland Youth Track Club, Joe Walton captured 4th place at the Class 4 Missouri High School State Meet in the 800m run.
Joe Walton will be entering the US Navy this summer and plans to join the US Armed Forces Track & Field team to continue his track and field career.
Congratulations to Joe Walton for an outstanding 2 years of running and making ALL STATE in cross country and track & field in 2011 and 2012.
Park Hill Boys 5th at State in 4 x 800 Relay
New School Record 7:52.36
On Friday May 25 at the Missouri High School State meet, the Park Hill boys 4 x 800 relay shattered the Park Hill 4 x 800 relay school record by 6 seconds. This 4 x 800 relay record stood for 30+ years. The 7:52.36 time ranks Park Hill boys 79th best time in the nation for the 4 x 800m relay and 8th best time in the State of MO for 2012. The relay team improved from 8:04.35 in 2011(ranked 16th the state) to a 7:52.36 in 2012.
Joe Walton (Sr) #644, Riley Farenholz (Jr) #636, Vince Tutorino (Jr) #643 and Cain Winebrenner (Jr) #645 averaged 1:58 per 800 meters. The relay team earned ALL - STATE status by placing in the top 8 in the finals out of 16 relays teams that qualified via the 4 sectional meets. The team set a goal 3 years ago to earn ALL STATE status and break the school record. Congratulations to these wonderful young men and their Coach, Coach Jason Parr.
Riley Farenholz, Vince Tutorino, Cain Winebrenner along with Kyle Pudenz (Fr with 2:01 800m PR and 4:35.5 1600m PR - freshman school record for the 1600m) will be rejoining the Heartland Track Club on June 4 to compete in the upcoming summer track season.

800m Missouri HS State Qualifiers
Cain Winebrenner & Joe Walton of Park Hill High School (and members of the cross country, indoor and summer outdoor Heartland Track Club) qualified to the Missouri high school state meet in the 4 x 800m relay and 800m race at the class 4 Sectional 4 meet at Ray-Pec high school on Saturday May 19.
After placing 2nd in the 4 x 800 relay to advance to state with a time of 8:01.05 (Cain 1:54 & Joe 1:56 along with teammates Vince Tutorino and Riley Farenholz), Cain & Joe returned 3 hours later to captured 1st & 2nd place in the 800m to advance to the State meet on May 25-26 as well. They fought winds of 38-40mph to claim the top two spots in the 800m race.

2012 Heartland Youth Track (HYTC)
400m Time Trial Meet
The heartland youth track club hosted their 400m TT meet on May 16. HYTC had 23/31 youth girls and 26/32 youth boys that competed in their annual 400m TT meet to kick off the season. Our first meet will be the Heartland TNT meet on June 7th.
The Birmingham girls of the Heartland Youth Track Club opened their youth outdoor track & field season at the Salina South youth track meet on April 28 in Salina, KS. The Birmingham girls used the meet as a pre-conditioning meet for the upcoming summer season.

The Heartland Youth Track Club (HYTC) is starting its 4th outdoor season and now accepting enrollment forms for the upcoming 2012 outdoor track & field season for youth ages 6-14 athletes.
The HYTC participates in 8-10 local, district, regional and National outdoor meets each year and will kick off the 2012 outdoor season at the "4th Annual Heartland TNT Meet" on June 7, 2012 at St Teresa's Academy in Kansas City, MO.
The HYTC season starts on May 14 and the enrollment forms must be submitted by May 1, 2012.
Kristen Birmingham lead the contingent of 5 Heartland YOUTH TRACK CLUB team members at the 2012 AAU indoor National Championships in Bloomington, Illinois on Feb 10-12.
- Kristen and her teammates of Jordan Birmingham, Emmalyn Downs, Shelby Sack and Conner Sweeney competed at AAU indoor national Championships and each of the athletes set personal records (PR's) and finished in the top 7 in their age groups. The top 8 finishers medal at the AAU Indoor National Championships.
Kristen scored 28 points and won the TEAM Championship for the Sub-Bantam age group. An amazing solo-performance by Kristen.

I have watched you tell all the kids what a great job they did with such encouraging words even though they didn't get the times they wanted. You truly are a great coach. The HYTC participates in 8 indoor meets each year and will kick off the 2012 indoor season at the "4th Annual Heartland Youth/High School Indoor Meet" on Jan 7-8, 2012 at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, KS. For the full 2012 youth indoor season schedule, select this link
The HYTC season starts on Nov 28 and the enrollment forms must be submitted by Nov 21, 2011.
Joe Walton of the Heartland XC Club wins the Boys 5k Open Division at the 2011 Nike Cross Midwest XC Regional Championships in Terre Haute, IN. Joe's winning time was 16:20.80 in very windy conditions of 27-30mph. The open division consisted of 412 athletes and it was the largest field in the history of the NXN Midwest XC Regional Championships.
The NXN Midwest XC Regional Championships includes the following states in the Midwest regional: IN - IL - OH - MI and MO. Joe lead the Heartland XC Club team that included the following members at the 2011 NXN Midwest XC Regional Championships.

Junior Olympians
Kristen Birmingham lead the Heartland Youth Track Club with a 7th place finish in the 100m dash Sub-Bantam division (age 7-8). Kristen became an All American Junior Olympian at the USATF Junior Olympic National Championships in Wichita, KS by placing in the top 8th. She set a personal best of 15.07 in the 100m dash. She competed against 46 qualifiers and she reached the 100m dash final by placing 4th in the semifinal round with a time of 15.24. Congratulations to Kristen Birminham.
The Heartland Youth Track Club qualified 36 athletes to the 2011 USATF Junior Olympic Championships on July 26-31 in Wichita, KS and earned the status of 2011 USATF Junior Olympians.
